Dr. Emerson Lim is a board certified medical oncologist in Grand Rapids, Michgan. He graduated with a bachelor of science in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, earned his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Columbia University where he also earned a master’s degree in Biostatistics.

Prior to moving to Michigan, Dr. Lim spent nine years as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and was involved in medical education, patient care, and clinical research. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where he continues to be involved in medical education. His research interests include the development and testing of medical imaging devices to detect cancer and monitor treatment response as well as early phase drug development for solid tumor malignancies with a focus on genitourinary malignancies. In addition to being awarded institutional and external grants, Dr. Lim was elected to several honor societies including the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, was a Susan G. Komen for the Cure Post-Doctoral Clinical Research fellow, and most recently was a Brian Lane Clinical Scholar though Corewell Health.

He is excited to bring his background and expertise to START Midwest to provide compassionate care and advance cutting edge medical research here in Michigan and the greater Midwest.
