Dr. Bruno S. Fang serves as the Director of Clinical Research at START New Jersey, where he leads oncology and hematology research efforts focused on expanding patient access to innovative early-phase clinical trials. With over two decades of experience in academic and community-based oncology, Dr. Fang brings deep clinical expertise and a steadfast commitment to advancing cancer care through translational research and compassionate, patient-centered medicine.

Dr. Fang earned his medical degree from the University of São Paulo School of Medicine in Brazil, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. He went on to complete dual fellowships in Oncology at the National Cancer Institute and in Hematology at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, both at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. During his tenure at the NIH, he served as Chief Fellow at the National Cancer Institute and has since maintained a strong focus on clinical excellence and research innovation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Fang has been recognized as one of the region’s leading oncologists, consistently named a Top Doctor by New Jersey Monthly, Inside Jersey, Jersey’s Best, and U.S. News & World Report, as well as among the Top Doctors: New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly Ltd. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, reflecting his commitment to academic rigor and professional integrity.

Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, Dr. Fang is passionate about bridging communication and cultural gaps in cancer care. At START New Jersey, he plays a key role in fostering collaboration across the global START network, helping to accelerate the development of new therapies and bring the hope of cancer research to more patients and families throughout the region.
